Success

Synonym: preparation
Contrary: improvisation

Every battle, with careful analysis, preparation and strategy, can be won even before it is fought.

One day I took part in an extraordinary event, hosted by one of the most renowned entrepreneurs and trainers. He reached extraordinary goals and decided to share his strategies with those who really wanted to engage in a specific project to successfully reach it.

I therefore entered a work team I used to call “special”, and actually became the most important “Peer group” of my life.

The training was really interesting, but at the end of the day I realized I already knew all the topics he dealt with. I had to share my final considerations with the other participants, so at first I was a bit embarrassed, above all because I had to specify which training elements I would use to reach my goals. The more I thought of it, the less I could find a way. Yet, the solution was right next to me. The most important element (the starting point) which would help me grow was actually realizing how much his “preparation” had influenced his successes. Caring both for details and for the greater picture as well, he managed to stand out in everything he did.

The difference between “improvisation and preparation” was a thunderstruck; It’s not that I didn’t know it, but I had overlooked it so far. “No, instead, no!” – I said to myself – “from now on, it will be my distinctive feature, I don’t want to feel unprepared anymore, although I can manage to do everything at the last moment.

I will engage every single day,  every occasion can be the chance to improve and grow: planning first, caring for the event and the feedbacks afterwards.”

In structured and strategic Referral Marketing, professionals can use their time at best through this method, especially when it comes to Networking to present their services and activity.

To do:

  • Goal planning
  • Check for the participants before the event
  • During the event, spend time with the most interesting people as far as our goals are concerned
  • Share useful information to keep in contact
  • Magic tool 24/7/30: by the next 24 hours, send all our new contact a written note (by hand or e-mail); by 7days, contact them on the social networks; by 30 days create contacts to organize a one-to-one meeting, or, if distance doesn’t allow, a Skype call.

The first meeting is an opportunity to build a professional and personal relation with our speaker.

Where amateurs waste their time in useless chats, professionals put preparation first: they use the method and the strategy at their best to build a relation network.

Follow-ups make a real difference, because they enhance personal and professional relations for sharing important referrals and having together extraordinary deals.

Competence, organization and training are part of the preparation….from now on, the building stones of our single actions.
